Encounter Healing Ritual, December 1, 2022
in the former Corcoran Gallery of Art, now known as the Flagg Building

Ritual objects under the commemorative plaque to William Wilson Corcoran, a philanthropist, confederate sympathizer, and enslaver.

In 1904, a reception was hosted in the building for T.H. Pardo de Tavera, a Filipino who was complicit in the dehumanization of some 1,200 Filipinos who were put on display as a human zoo at the St. Louis World’s Fair that year. The ritual intervention addressed this history of the site.
