The artist’s ritual objects in a case below the commemorative plaque to William Wilson Corcoran, who held, bought and sold people as slaves.
The ritual intervention also focused on the building’s past history of hosting a reception for T.H. Pardo de Tavera, a Filipino who was complicit in the dehumanization of some 1,200 Filipinos who were put on display as a human zoo at the St. Louis World’s Fair that same year.
